FALCONETS Head Coach, Moses Aduku, has expressed strong confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of Saturday’s decisive third-round qualifier against Senegal’s Lionesses de la Téranga in the race for a place at the Poland 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Aduku, speaking during the team’s final preparations, said the Falconets have worked extensively on both tactical and psychological aspects of the game, stressing that the players fully understand the magnitude of the encounter.
According to the coach, the team’s preparation has been intense and focused, with emphasis placed on discipline, organisation, and exploiting Nigeria’s traditional strengths in youth football.
“We respect Senegal because they are a good side, but our focus is on ourselves,” Aduku said. “The girls have responded well in training, and their attitude has been very encouraging. They know what is at stake and are mentally prepared for the challenge.”
The Falconets are expected to lean on the quality and experience of several standout players. Janet Akekoromowei remains a key attacking threat, known for her strength, movement, and ability to unsettle defenders. In midfield, Ramotallah Kareem is expected to dictate play with her creativity and pace, while Shakirat Moshood will be relied upon for balance, composure, and tireless work rate.
Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team has built a strong reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent sides at youth level, regularly qualifying for global tournaments. Aduku believes that pedigree, combined with the hunger of a new generation of players, will be vital against a determined Senegalese side.
With team morale high and preparations concluded, the Falconets are aiming for a convincing performance that will place them in a strong position ahead of the return leg and bring them closer to another World Cup appearance.
