Women Affairs Minister Promises Strategic Retreat, Improved Staff Welfare
MINISTER of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing the welfare of ministry staff and strengthening service delivery to women and vulnerable groups across Nigeria.
In a statement released Thursday by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Jonathan Eze, the Minister addressed concerns raised during a recent staff protest over poor welfare, lack of training opportunities, and other workplace issues.
In response, Sulaiman-Ibrahim announced plans to convene a comprehensive strategic retreat for all staff of the Ministry. The retreat, she said, will serve as a platform to realign internal policies and programmes with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Brighter days are not a distant dream—they are the product of deliberate action and shared commitment,” she said. “Our work is not just about future promises; it is about taking bold, practical steps today to build an inclusive, secure, and prosperous Nigeria.”
The Minister reiterated her administration’s focus on ensuring that all government initiatives under her leadership deliver real and measurable benefits to Nigerian women, children, families, and vulnerable populations.
Commitment to Staff Welfare and Workplace Excellence
Addressing the staff directly, Sulaiman-Ibrahim pledged to foster a culture of excellence, transparency, accountability, and an improved working environment.
“Your commitment is the engine of our progress,” she said. “Together, we will build a legacy of service and transformative impact.”
She acknowledged the dedication of ministry personnel and emphasized the importance of a motivated and well-supported workforce in achieving the Ministry’s broader social and developmental goals.
Ongoing Interventions and National Impact
The Minister also highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the distribution of relief materials to vulnerable women and families nationwide.
Reaffirming her zero-tolerance policy on gender-based violence, she noted that the Ministry is strengthening systems to better support survivors and ensure justice.
“I am confident that through our collective efforts, we are laying a solid foundation for a future where every Nigerian woman and child can truly thrive,” she stated.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim added that the Ministry is currently implementing high-impact programmes focused on economic empowerment, enhanced social protection, and national development.
