“When We Are Done With The Hypocritical Fasting And Prayers, We Will Open Our Eyes”—Impunity Has Destroyed Nigeria

SOCIETY is destroyed when it descends to a level where some people believe and act that they are above the law.
Nigeria has descended to that level, and every day facts emerge to confirm it.
Let me analyse the most recent, where a man held up a plane on the tarmac.
If impunity had anything to do with refinement, this one was crude.
It was impunity in its crudest, stone age format.
According to reports, flight officials said he was not going with the aircraft because he will not declare the content of the flask he was holding.
Instead of complying or returning home, he held up the aircraft.
It is either they play by his terms, or the aircraft is not moving.
Let me break it down.
This man does not occupy public office anywhere in Nigeria.
And that is what makes the impunity more telling. All he had was AFFILIATION TO POWER.
On that aircraft that he held down could be a General in any arms of the military.
On that aircraft that he held down could be a Judge on the Bench, a Senior Advocate, or a senior Police personnel.
All that meant nothing to the man, the power he is affiliated to is higher than all of that.
POWER PASS POWER.
The only reason this generated an uproar was because it was in the open, and recorded in REAL TIME.
Imagine how many lives that have been ruined with the IMPUNITY of AFFILIATION TO POWER.
Imagine how many livelihoods have been wiped out with the impunity of AFFILIATION TO POWER.
Not long ago, we saw the video of Mr. Peter Obi, lamenting how some people brought caterpillars and demolished the house of his brother in Lagos.
Against every law and sense, the building was pulled down.
Lagos state came out and claimed it knew nothing about the demolition.
I knew the Lagos state government may not be aware of the demolition.
If you know how much impunity has destroyed Nigeria not just by people of power, but more so by people AFFILIATED TO POWER.
When you hear, “Do you know who I am,” or, “I can kill you and nothing will happen,” you are very likely dealing with an idiot that is AFFILIATED TO POWER.
If is that AFFILIATION TO POWER that propelled a man to hold down a plane, not minding whoever may be on board.
When we are done with the hypocritical fasting and prayers, instead of rebuking bad behaviour and holding leaders accountable, we will open our eyes and be confronted by the ruins of the country.
You can deceive yourself as you desire, but the truth is that impunity has destroyed Nigeria.
