We Don’t Live By Human Brilliance – Adeboye To Legal Practitioners
THE General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has reminded Nigerians particularly legal practitioners that human survival and achievements depend solely on the mercy of God, not on personal brilliance.
Speaking at the September thanksgiving and prayer service themed “Divine Mercy” on Sunday at the RCCG national headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Adeboye stressed that life itself is evidence of divine mercy.
“The fact that we are still alive today is of the mercy of God. When you consider the various ways a fellow could die, you will know that you are alive not because you are clever but because of the Lord’s mercy,” he said.
Adeboye shared a personal testimony from his university days, recalling how he suddenly went blank during an examination despite thorough preparation. He explained that it was God’s mercy that helped him recall the solutions and excel in the test.
He, however, cautioned that mercy is conditional, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. There is trouble for the unmerciful. The result can be destruction without remedy.”
Adeboye warned that God’s patience is not endless, urging people to embrace mercy before it is too late.
Addressing journalists after the service, Pastor Dele Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, called on Nigeria’s legal professionals to act with fairness and equity.
“If we want justice in this nation, they have a critical role to play,” he said.
Balogun also revealed that over 2,000 needy individuals received rice distributions during the service, noting that mercy should reflect in both spiritual and practical actions.
