Waive Hails Oborevwori’s Leadership As Governor Bags National Honours

Recognition at Leadership Conference
MEMBER representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Waive, has congratulated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his emergence as Governor of the Year 2025 by Leadership Newspapers.
Waive delivered his remarks on Thursday at the 18th Leadership Annual Conference and Awards held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where Oborevwori was formally honoured for what organisers described as his performance in office.
Describing the award as well-deserved, the federal lawmaker said the recognition reflected the governor’s commitment to development and effective governance in Delta State.
‘Most Performing Governor’
Waive commended Oborevwori’s leadership style, describing him as “the most performing governor in the country today.” He maintained that the governor’s achievements had surpassed those of previous administrations in the state.
According to him, the Oborevwori administration has demonstrated courage, vision and passion for governance, translating campaign promises into visible developmental projects across the state.
“He defines the next level every time. When you think he has defined it, he redefines it to a higher level,” Waive said, noting that Deltans were witnessing unprecedented infrastructural and socio-economic progress.
The lawmaker insisted that the governor’s record speaks louder than political rhetoric, adding that residents of the state were proud of the strides recorded so far.
Series of National Recognitions
Beyond the Leadership Newspapers honour, Waive disclosed that Governor Oborevwori is also scheduled to receive another accolade from New Telegraph in Lagos, where he will again be named Governor of the Year.
He recalled that the governor had recently been recognised by Vanguard Newspapers, describing the string of awards as evidence of growing national acknowledgement of his administration’s impact.
Waive expressed confidence that such recognitions would continue as long as the governor sustains his development agenda and people-centred policies.
Beneficiaries of Governance
While congratulating the governor, the lawmaker emphasised that Deltans remain the ultimate beneficiaries of the administration’s policies and programmes.
He prayed for God’s protection and strength for Oborevwori, urging him to remain focused on delivering good governance and consolidating the state’s development trajectory.
According to Waive, the awards are not merely ceremonial but symbolic of a leadership model that prioritises service, accountability and sustainable growth.
