PLANS to fly 200 Nigerian football supporters to Morocco for the Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup Playoff matches have been called off due to visa complications. Organizers were unable to secure entry permits in time for the fans, forcing a cancellation of the much-anticipated fan delegation.
“The plan is off because of problems in securing the fans’ visas into Morocco,” a team official confirmed.
In response, the Nigerian Embassy in Rabat will rally local Nigerian students and residents to cheer on the Super Eagles during the high-stakes fixtures.
Nigeria kicks off their playoff campaign on Thursday against Gabon at the Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan in Rabat, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. local time. The winner will advance to Sunday’s final against either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the victor securing Africa’s lone spot in the FIFA Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico, March 2026.
