Uvwie Bans Designation Of Places As ‘Warri’
EARLIER on Wednesday, the executive members of the Wado City Advocacy Movement, were invited by members of the Legislative Arm of Uvwie Local Government Area to a public sensitisation and awareness campaign on the implementation of the law banning the use of the name ‘Warri’ in Uvwie territories.
Recall about two months ago, the Uvwie legislative arm passed a law to that effect. It was described as a successful deliberation, as several stakeholders from Uvwie, including the Uvwie Union and Uvwie Palace were represented. The transport union, youth groups, Social Media influencers were also present.
The House said: “the DSS in Uvwie invited us briefly to their office, we had a brief chat with them, we answered their questions and assured them that it is clearly intellectual based. It is a non violent movement. We don’t intent to fight with anyone. We will use the tools of reason, truth and logic to convince any one. We are committed to keeping the peace. And we will not hesitate to report anyone who tries to use the struggle to breach the Peace. If there is anyone out there who is not yet convinced that we should rename our areas, let us know. We will debate it together peacefully.
