Tunisia Qualify For 2026 World Cup As Second African Team

TUNISIA have officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the second African nation to book their place at the global showpiece after Morocco.
The Carthage Eagles sealed their qualification in dramatic fashion on Monday, thanks to a last-minute goal from Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who struck in the 94th minute to hand Tunisia a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea. The assist came from Firas Chaouat, sparking jubilant celebrations among players and fans alike.
With the win, Tunisia now sit comfortably atop Group H with 22 points from eight matches, ten points clear of second-placed Namibia, who still have a game in hand. Impressively, the North Africans have gone through the entire qualifying campaign without conceding a single goal — a defensive record unmatched in the African qualifiers so far.
This qualification marks Tunisia’s seventh World Cup appearance and their third consecutive tournament, following their participation in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, where they exited at the group stage on both occasions.
The Carthage Eagles now join Morocco, who had earlier secured qualification with a commanding 5-0 victory over Niger in Rabat.
