Tragedy In Kagarko: Two Women Killed After Kidnap Ordeal

Kidnap Incident Turns Deadly in Kaduna Community
A tragic development has emerged from Kaduna State, where bandits reportedly killed two young women among a group of abducted residents from Janjala community in Kagarko Local Government Area.
The victims were part of 14 individuals kidnapped on March 1, 2026, including a vigilante member and his wife. The incident has sparked renewed concern over rising insecurity and the vulnerability of rural communities.
Ransom Negotiations and Partial Release
According to sources, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦14 million for the victims’ release. Families of the abducted individuals reportedly struggled to raise the amount and eventually secured ₦13 million.
Following the payment, some of the captives—mainly women—were released, while male victims remained in captivity. However, the situation took a tragic turn when the families were informed that two of the women had been killed.
Circumstances Surrounding the Killings
Community sources indicated that the killings occurred after the victims allegedly resisted actions by the abductors. The bandits reportedly carried out the act shortly after collecting the ransom at a location near the Hayin Dam forest in neighbouring Kachia Local Government Area.
Security sources have confirmed the deaths, though official details remain limited.
Demand for Additional Payment
Despite the partial release, the abductors are said to be demanding an additional ₦1 million and food supplies as a condition for freeing the remaining captives.
This development has further heightened anxiety among affected families and residents.
Authorities Yet to Respond
As of the time of reporting, the Kaduna State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident. Efforts to reach the police spokesperson were unsuccessful.
The incident adds to growing calls for stronger security measures to protect communities and prevent recurring cases of abduction and violence.
