Tompolo Pledges Support for Peace, Development As Delta Launches Security Trust Fund
HIGH Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development in Delta State with the official launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund in Asaba.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the Government House, where he served as the Chief Launcher, Tompolo described the initiative as “a strategic investment in peace, progress, and the protection of lives and property.”
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the State Security Council for their visionary leadership in creating a public–private partnership framework to address emerging security challenges across Delta State.
“Security is the cornerstone of sustainable development. No community, investor, or government can thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity,” Tompolo stated.
He stressed that the Trust Fund represents more than financial support—it is a long-term commitment to making Delta safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
Tompolo, who has played key roles in Niger Delta peace and security operations, emphasized that effective security requires both resources and collaboration among all stakeholders. He called on citizens, business leaders, and community groups to contribute genuinely to the Fund’s success.
“As citizens and stakeholders, it is our collective duty to support this Fund with sincerity and commitment,” he said.
Pledging his personal support, Tompolo noted that his contribution went beyond monetary value, describing it as a pledge of continued partnership toward a peaceful and progressive Delta.
He expressed optimism that with unity and cooperation, Delta can become “a society where people live without fear, where children dream freely, and where development flourishes without hindrance.”
The event, which was attended by top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and business leaders, also, importantly, marked Tompolo’s first major public appearance in over a decade. Consequently, it drew significant attention from across the Niger Delta region and further underscored the renewed interest in regional peace and collaboration.
