Title Chase Heats Up As NWFL Premiership Returns

By TAYO TAIWO (T. T.) OLUWOLE
THE Nigeria Women Football League Premiership resumes on Wednesday with decisive Matchday 8 fixtures expected to significantly shape the race for a place in the season-ending Super Six.
With the campaign entering a critical stretch, top contenders across Groups A and B face defining encounters that could alter the standings.
Group A: Bayelsa Face Tough Owerri Test
In Owerri, Heartland Queens will host unbeaten leaders Bayelsa Queens in what promises to be a headline clash. Bayelsa Queens have been dominant so far and will look to maintain their impressive run. However, Heartland Queens see the tie as an opportunity to narrow the gap and strengthen their own Super Six ambitions.
Elsewhere in Group A, Ekiti Queens square up against former champions Rivers Angels in Abeokuta. With both sides firmly in contention, the encounter carries enormous weight in the qualification race.
Group B: Robo Aim to Stay on Top
In Lagos, FC Robo Queens will seek to consolidate their leadership of Group B when they welcome Osun Babes. The Lagos-based side understands that any slip-up at this stage could prove costly.
Other fixtures include Naija Ratels versus Adamawa Queens, Ibom Angels against Edo Queens, Sunshine Queens hosting Nasarawa Amazons, Abia Angels facing Dannaz Ladies, Remo Stars Ladies battling Delta Queens, and Ahudiyannem Queens taking on Confluence Queens.
With qualification slots tightening, Matchday 8 could prove pivotal in determining who stays on course for Super Six glory.
