TEAM Nigeria shone brightly at the 2025 ANOCA Zone III Games, winning two gold medals in the men’s and women’s doubles badminton events on Wednesday.
In the men’s doubles, Joseph Abel and Shehu Aliyu dominated every round without dropping a set, defeating Togo 2-0 in the final. The women’s duo, Dorcas Adesokan and Deborah Uchechukwu, replicated the feat, overpowering Benin Republic 2-0 to claim gold.
Head coach Ismaila Muhammed commended the athletes for their discipline and performance, saying the tournament provided vital exposure ahead of international qualifiers.
Nigeria will look to extend its medal haul as the competition continues with singles and team events later in the week.
