SUPER Eagles coach Eric Chelle will announce his final squad for the 2026 World Cup African playoffs on Friday, ahead of the advance team’s departure to Morocco on Saturday.
A top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official confirmed that invitation letters have already been sent to players’ clubs, with all selected players expected to report directly to camp in Morocco by Monday.
“The players will assemble in Morocco because it’s closer to Europe than Nigeria, which makes logistics easier,” the official said, adding that some fresh faces will make their debut while others return after time away.
The coaching crew reportedly made tough choices, especially in attack. “Over ten strikers were under consideration, but only four made the cut — Victor Osimhen, Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare, and Paul Onuachu, who’s been in fine form in Turkey,” the source added.
Inter Milan’s on-loan midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro (Pisa) earns his first call-up, while goalkeeper Maduka Okoye returns to the fold. However, Brentford defender Michael Kayode is left out as he weighs his international future between Nigeria and Italy.
Nigeria will open their playoff campaign against Gabon on November 13. A win would set up a decisive clash against either Cameroon or DR Congo on November 16 for a spot in the inter-confederation playoff.
