NIGERIA booked their place in the final of the African play-offs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a commanding 4–1 extra-time victory over Gabon in Rabat on Thursday.
Akor Adams opened the scoring with a sharp first-half finish before Mario Lemina’s late deflected strike dragged the match into extra time.
Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead shortly after the restart, pouncing on a defensive error to swing momentum back to the Super Eagles.
Victor Osimhen then took over, smashing in a near-post strike and curling home a superb second to seal the win and bury Gabon’s hopes.
Nigeria now awaits the winner of DR Congo vs. Cameroon in Sunday’s decisive play-off final, which will determine who progresses to the intercontinental playoffs for a chance at the 2026 World Cup.
