ANAMBRA State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Tuesday presented a ₦757 billion proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year, reflecting a 24.1% increase from 2025 and signaling a push for faster development and project delivery.
Tagged “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,” the budget sets recurrent expenditure at ₦162.6 billion and capital expenditure at ₦595.3 billion, reinforcing the administration’s focus on infrastructure, human capital, and economic growth.
Sectoral allocations include 12.2% for administration, 26.7% for economic activities, 31.4% for the social sector, 46.9% for education, 13% for health, and 27.7% for infrastructure. Soludo said these priorities aim to deepen reforms from his first term while launching new legacy projects designed to shape Anambra’s long-term development.
He highlighted security, infrastructure expansion, economic transformation, and human capital development as the government’s core focus areas for 2026.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, praised Soludo’s developmental strides over the past three and a half years and assured swift legislative review of the budget. He added that Soludo’s reelection confirms public confidence in his leadership as the state enters a new policy cycle.
The proposed 2026 plan builds on the ₦607 billion 2025 budget, which significantly expanded capital spending and prioritized major road and education investments.
