Six Ogun Wrestlers Ready To Shine In Asaba For The 9th National Youth Games
OGUN State representatives in the boxing event at the ninth National Youth games in Asaba, Delta State, have been cleared.
The six wrestlers which comprises four boys and two girls passed the screening process held at the Stephen Keshi Township Stadium.
Agwaza Tersoo Steven and John Matthew Inaku will wrestle for Ogun State in 55kG and 48KG Greco Roman for boys while in the boys Freestyle Agwaza Amen Johusa and Popoola Damilola Morenikeji will compete in 55KG and 48KG in boys’ freestyle
In the Girls’ Freestyle category Patrick Precious Jyusmen – 49KG and Afolabi Ayomide Heritage – 40KG.
The Chairman, Ogun State Wrestling Association, Dr Abimbola Babalola urged the wrestlers to remain focused towards surpassing their performance in the 8th edition of the games.
Dr. Babalola renewed the commitment of the association to the welfare of the wrestlers in the State.
The Head Coach of the team, Mr. Badmus Adebayo thanked the state government and the association for their unwavering support to the wrestlers.
Ogun State finished second on the overall table in the wrestling event in the last edition of the games with one gold and one silver while Delta State emerged the overall best with 2 gold and 1 bronze.
The wrestling event at the games will take place between 4th and 5th September 2025.
