Seven Cameroonians Arrested In Benue Over Suspected Cross-Border Banditry

By TOSI ORE
SECURITY operatives in Benue State have arrested seven Cameroonian nationals suspected of involvement in banditry and cross-border criminal activities in Imande-Agbatse, a community that straddles the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
The suspects—identified as Titakung Cyril Gadinga, Nuvi Clifford Babila, Foyabo Godwin Nuvi T., Doh Collins Dobgima, Basil Smith, Dama Kenneth Babila, and Dingana Emmanuel—were first intercepted by local youths in the early hours of Monday. Community members reported that the men had been sighted acting suspiciously and were believed to be linked to bandit groups operating along the border corridor.
The youths handed the suspects over to security forces, after which they were transferred to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Makurdi. They are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation to determine their roles and connections within the wider criminal network.
Security sources stated that although Benue remains relatively stable, authorities are treating the arrests as a significant development in ongoing efforts to curb cross-border insecurity. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
