Mehdi Hasan: Since President Tinubu took office, insecurity has worsened. Nigeria is now one of the deadliest countries in the world. Amnesty International reports document thousands of killings and kidnappings continuing under this administration. Are you proud of that record?
Daniel Bwala: I’m not aware.
Mehdi Hasan: You’re not aware of that report?
Daniel Bwala: I’m not aware of that specific report.
Mehdi Hasan: Amnesty International says thousands have been killed and kidnappings continue across the country.
Daniel Bwala: Honestly, I’m not aware of that.
Mehdi Hasan: Nigeria has become one of the deadliest countries in the world. Around 11,000 people were reportedly killed in the past year. Are you proud of that record?
Daniel Bwala: I acknowledge that insecurity exists in Nigeria. But no country in the world is free from insecurity. The government is fighting it seriously.
Mehdi Hasan: But the numbers show it has gotten worse under this administration.
Daniel Bwala: It depends on how you interpret the numbers. Some people see the glass half empty, others see it half full.
On Kidnappings
Mehdi Hasan: Amnesty International says impunity continues and killings remain widespread.
Daniel Bwala: I’m not aware of that report.

Daniel Bwala: That was my opinion at the time.
Mehdi Hasan: So you were wrong then?
Daniel Bwala: The matter was litigated and concluded by the Supreme Court.
