THE Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme in Kano State has empowered 400 groundnut farmers in Bebeji Local Government Area with improved inputs and training to enhance productivity and climate-resilient farming.
State Project Coordinator, Aminu Iliyasu, said the farmers—142 women and 258 men—received fertilisers and high-yield SAM Nut 24 seed varieties under the Wet Season Support Scheme. He noted that training on good agronomic and smart farming practices had doubled yields for many participants.
Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Danjuma Mahmud reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to agricultural transformation and food security. Beneficiaries praised SAPZ’s support but appealed for timely seed distribution and access to harvesting equipment.
