Rivers Assembly Presses Fubara On Cabinet, Budget

THE Rivers State House of Assembly has directed Governor Siminalayi Fubara to urgently submit a list of commissioner-nominees for screening and confirmation, as well as initiate the process of presenting an Appropriation Bill for the rest of the year.
The resolutions were passed on Thursday as lawmakers resumed plenary after a six-month suspension of democratic institutions in the state. Speaker Martin Amaewhule presided over the sitting.
Governor Fubara, his deputy, and the Assembly had been suspended on 18 March 2025 when President Bola Tinubu declared emergency rule in Rivers State, appointing former Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, as sole administrator.
With the emergency rule ending on 17 September, President Tinubu reinstated the governor, deputy, and lawmakers, marking a return to normal governance in the oil-rich state.
