PROWAN Honours Personalities, Pledges To Sustain Supportive Role In Accounting
THE Professional Women Accountants of Nigeria (PROWAN), has treated its members, other professional groups, invited guests and the general public to an awards/dinner, with a pledge to sustain its supportive role in realizing the objectives of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) being a premium brand of choice.
PROWAN is the women’s wing of ANAN. The occasion was witnessed by Barr. Lawretta Ogbedo, the representative of Delta State First Lady, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori. Ogbedo is the DG of the First Lady’s pet project, You Matter.
The event was declared open by Chairman of ANAN, Asaba branch, Mr. Henry Obi Edozie. Those present included Permanent Secretary/Accountant General of Delta State, Mrs. Joy Enwa, Chairman, Delta State Forum of Accountants, Mr. Charles Isiayei, a member of ANAN Governing Council, Mrs. Eboka and immediate past PROWAN state coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Chukwurah, among others.
Groups present included the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), the women’s arm of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), professional women engineers, lawyers, architects, among other groups.
Speaking during the occasion, PROWAN Coordinator in the state, Mrs. Tosan Erikpara said it was the second of its kind but that it is getting better, while recalling that the beginning was fraught with challenges which are gradually being overcome through efficient leadership of the association.
Erikpara said the night was to celebrate PROWAN’s successes in realizing its vision as a group, which saw members embarking on various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives including the recent collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources on the Clean Nigeria project that saw PROWAN members in Asaba visit and carry out the cleaning of Anwai Market in Asaba.
While the PS/AG wished PROWAN well in all of its endeavours, the Chairman, Delta State Forum of Accountants, Mr. Charles Isiayei expressed happiness that PROWAN is ever marching forward. Chairman of ANAN, Asaba Branch, Mr. Henry Edozie commended PROWAN for their members’ spirit of co-operation, sense of unity and collective desire to achieve successes. Edozie said “if the men can take a que from you, ANAN will achieve more successes”, while he described ANAN as a moving train that cannot be stopped.
A major highlight apart from a dancing competition and a night to unwind, was the presentation of awards to ANAN council member, Mrs. Eboka, Mr. Henry Edozie, Chairman of ANAN, Asaba Branch, Mrs. Victoria Chukwurah, who is the eye of PROWAN national body in Delta State and Veronica Nwanze, among other awardees.
