Police Rescue Kidnapped Lady, Arrest Four Suspects In Ondo State
THE Ondo State Police Command has rescued a young woman, Oluwaseun Adebayo, who was kidnapped in Akure, the state capital. The police also arrested four suspects believed to be responsible for the abduction.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Akure.
According to him, the incident occurred on November 4, around 6:30 p.m., along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda area of Akure South Local Government Area.
Ayanlade said the police were alerted by a Good Samaritan, who reported that four young men driving an unregistered Toyota Camry had forcefully abducted a lady and were speeding toward Shoprite Roundabout in Akure.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, our personnel immediately mobilised and blocked the suspects’ route. The operation led to the arrest of all four assailants and the immediate rescue of the victim,” Ayanlade stated.
He added that the suspects were taking the victim to an unknown destination when they were intercepted.
The police spokesperson described the rescue as a result of prompt coordination and quick response by officers following the timely alert from a vigilant resident.
“The vehicle used for the abduction, an unregistered Toyota Camry (popularly called Muscle Camry), has been recovered as an exhibit. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue,” he said.
Ayanlade also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the professionalism of his officers and the cooperation from members of the public.
He said the CP noted that the success of the operation reflected the growing trust and collaboration between the police and the people — an essential component of modern community policing.
The Commissioner further assured residents of Ondo State that the command would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
