Police Day 2026: Community Outreach, Walkathon Top Akwa Ibom Line-Up

Police Strengthen Community Policing Efforts
AS preparations intensify for the 2026 Police Day, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has outlined a series of activities aimed at deepening community policing and enhancing public trust.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, said the initiative reflects the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and inclusive security strategies.
Week-Long Activities Across the State
The programme, organised in line with the vision of the Nigeria Police Force, will feature a range of community-focused engagements.
These include environmental sanitation campaigns and medical outreach services designed to improve public welfare while reinforcing the police’s social responsibility role.
A walkathon involving officers is also planned to boost visibility and foster stronger relationships with residents.
Focus on Electoral Safety and Road Discipline
Beyond outreach efforts, the Command will conduct public enlightenment campaigns on electoral violence, reflecting growing concerns over election-related offences.
Road safety awareness will also form a key part of the programme, with officers educating motorists on compliance with traffic regulations to reduce accidents and improve road discipline.
Support for Families of Fallen Heroes
In a symbolic show of appreciation, the Command will present welfare cheques to families of officers who died in active service. The initiative underscores ongoing efforts to recognise the sacrifices of personnel and provide institutional support to their dependents.
Final Event in the Nation’s Capital
The celebration will conclude with a nationwide grand finale on 7 April 2026, in Abuja.
Reiterating the Command’s resolve, CP Azare assured residents of continued efforts to maintain law and order, while urging the public to collaborate with security agencies.
The Command also called on citizens to participate in the activities, describing the event as an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and service of police officers across the country.
