Operation Hadin Kai Repels Midnight Attack, Dismantles Terror Cell

TROOPS of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified counter-insurgency operations in Borno State, neutralising 16 ISWAP terrorists and rescuing 11 kidnapped civilians in a series of coordinated actions.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, said the operation was triggered by a failed midnight attack by ISWAP fighters on the Forward Operating Base in Auno on 5 February.
He explained that troops of Sector 1 repelled the assault with decisive firepower, forcing the insurgents to withdraw. Capitalising on the failed attack, security forces launched a pursuit operation days later along the Komala axis in Konduga Local Government Area.
The offensive, conducted in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, extended to the Gidan Kaji axis, where 16 terrorists were killed. Several others reportedly fled with injuries.
Security forces recovered over 20 bicycles believed to have been used for mobility in difficult terrain, as well as weapons and substantial logistics supplies critical to the group’s operations.
In a separate but related development, troops intercepted suspected ISWAP logistics couriers transporting large quantities of drugs near the Bukarti axis. Military authorities said the drugs were meant to support terrorist activities.
Troops also thwarted an attempted abduction along the Buratai–Kamuya road after responding promptly to unusual movements. Two victims were rescued and safely reunited with their families.
Additionally, nine kidnapped persons were freed along the Chibok–Damboa axis following a distress alert.
Lt.-Col. Uba noted that the operations reflect the military’s ongoing commitment to degrading terrorist capabilities, cutting off supply routes and safeguarding communities in the North-East.
He reaffirmed that Operation HADIN KAI remains focused on sustaining pressure on insurgent groups while ensuring the protection of civilians across affected areas.
