Ondo Police Smash Baby Factory, Rescue Teen Victims From Trafficking Ring

THE Ondo State Police Command has dismantled a suspected baby factory and human trafficking syndicate in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, rescuing six victims, including five pregnant girls and a baby boy.
Police spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade said the case originated from the Ore Division and has been transferred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit for full investigation.
The operation followed a report by a 17-year-old Akwa Ibom native, Vivian Peter, who was lured to Ore under the pretext of a job offer but ended up in a fake clinic that served as a baby factory.
Peter managed to escape when she was sent for a medical scan and reported the case to the police, prompting a swift raid on the facility.
During the operation, one victim who had already delivered was taken to the General Hospital, Ore, for post-natal care, while others were placed in protective custody.
Preliminary investigations identified one Ada Clement as the prime suspect. She and some accomplices reportedly confessed to selling babies — male infants for about ₦600,000 and female infants for ₦400,000.
Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, ordered a discreet investigation to apprehend all fleeing members of the network. He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve, under the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to combat human trafficking, child exploitation, and all forms of gender-based violence.
Lawal assured that the police would ensure justice for the victims and continue safeguarding the rights of vulnerable citizens.
