Oborevwori To Reshape Ughelli Roads With New Overpass

Infrastructure Strategy & Public Impact
Oborevwori Flyover Projects Redefine Delta Traffic Landscape
DELTA State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will on 12 January 2026, formally flag off construction of the Otovwodo Junction Flyover, continuing a transformative infrastructure agenda now defined by interchange bridges and urban road modernisation. The 11:00 a.m. event, announced by CPS Sir Festus Ahon, is expected to draw government officials, traditional leaders, and development stakeholders.
The project is being built by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, which has already moved equipment and personnel to site, accelerating early works ahead of the official launch. Otovwodo joins Uromi Junction in Agbor as the latest flyover projects approved by the State EXCO, both designed to resolve critical congestion nodes across Delta’s growing urban centres.
In anticipation of construction-phase traffic pressure, Governor Oborevwori previously ordered the development of four adjoining bypass roads around Otovwodo, ensuring alternative routes remain available to commuters and residents. The governor has built a strong infrastructure delivery record against hosts of high-density traffic cities, with three of his earlier flyovers now at advanced completion stages.
The state says the flyover programme is not only about movement but public safety, economic stimulation, and long-term urban planning that minimises road conflict points. Residents in Ughelli have described the project as overdue, expressing optimism that it will drastically reduce daily commute delays.
