Oborevwori Orders Full Enforcement Of Outdoor Advertising Laws In Delta

Regulatory Clampdown Begins
IN a decisive move to regulate outdoor advertising, the Delta State Government has ordered strict enforcement of industry laws, directing the Delta State Signage and Advertisement Agency to ensure full compliance among operators.
The directive, approved by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Eze Emu.
Compliance Requirements for Operators
As part of the enforcement framework, outdoor advertising practitioners are required to:
-
Clearly identify ownership of billboard structures
-
Submit valid ARCON certification to regulatory authorities
-
Provide documentation of approved advertising sites
The measures must be implemented within seven days, marking one of the most stringent regulatory timelines in recent years.
Focus on Safety and Aesthetics
The government emphasised that the initiative is designed to address multiple challenges, including environmental risks posed by poorly installed billboards and the visual clutter in urban areas.
Officials noted that unregulated advertising structures often contribute to safety hazards and undermine city planning efforts.
By enforcing compliance, the state aims to create a more organised and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Balancing Regulation and Industry Growth
While the directive introduces tighter controls, it also reflects an effort to professionalise the advertising sector and align it with national standards.
Stakeholders believe that improved regulation could enhance investor confidence and attract more structured participation in the industry.
Warning Against Non-Compliance
The government issued a strong warning that defaulters would face penalties, including possible removal of structures and other legal sanctions.
The statement added that enquiries could be directed to the listed phone numbers:
