Oborevwori Mourns Late DBS Broadcaster, Vivian Nkechika
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has mourned the death of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Asaba presenter, Miss Vivian Nkechika, describing her passing as a painful loss to the media industry and the state.
Nkechika, who hailed from Ekwuoma in Ika North East Local Government Area, was an Assistant Manager in the Programmes Department of DBS Asaba. She reportedly died on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from complications sustained in a domestic gas explosion.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended heartfelt sympathies to her family, the management and staff of DBS Asaba, media professionals in Delta State, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta Council.
He described the late broadcaster as a dedicated and ethical media professional whose work reflected passion, diligence, and a strong commitment to public enlightenment.
“Delta State has lost a vibrant and principled journalist whose voice informed, educated, and engaged the public,” the Governor said. “Her sudden death is a great loss to her family, the media community, and everyone who values credible journalism.”
Oborevwori prayed for God’s comfort for her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time, and for the peaceful repose of her soul.
“May God strengthen all who are grieving and grant her eternal rest,” he added.
