Governor Salutes Former Speaker at 57
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, on the occasion of his 57th birth anniversary, describing him as a seasoned leader whose impact spans politics, business and sports administration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor commended Ochei’s longstanding contributions to Delta State and the nation, noting that his record in public service remains significant.
Legacy in Legislative Leadership
Governor Oborevwori highlighted Ochei’s tenure as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, where he was credited with steering legislative business during a critical period in the state’s democratic evolution.
According to the governor, Ochei’s time in office reflected a commitment to democratic ideals, grassroots empowerment and policy initiatives aimed at sustainable development. He described the former Speaker as an accomplished politician whose approach to governance strengthened institutional processes within the state legislature.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate my dear brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, on the occasion of his 57th birth anniversary,” Oborevwori said.
Contributions to Maritime and Sports Sectors
Beyond state politics, the governor acknowledged Ochei’s role as former Executive Director, Cabotage Services, at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). He noted that Ochei brought experience and administrative insight to the maritime agency, contributing to efforts to strengthen regulatory frameworks and advance Nigeria’s shipping and cabotage services.
In his current capacity as President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Ochei has also been recognised for promoting the growth of tennis nationwide. The governor said his leadership has helped revitalise the sport, encouraging youth participation and institutional development within the federation.

Describing Ochei as a dependable and influential stakeholder in Delta politics, Oborevwori said his counsel and support remain invaluable to the state’s development trajectory. He prayed for continued good health, wisdom and opportunities for Ochei to serve humanity.
