Oborevwori Congratulates Idjerhe Monarch on Milestone Birthday, Coronation Anniversary
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm congratulations to the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Obukowho Monday Whiskey, JP, PhD, Udurhie I, as the monarch marks his 60th birthday alongside the fifth anniversary of his coronation.
In a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described the dual celebration, observed on Sunday, January 18, 2026, as a rare and meaningful milestone that underscores both personal fulfilment and impactful traditional leadership.
The governor said the occasion provides an opportunity to assess five years of Udurhie I’s reign, which he described as purposeful, stable and deeply rooted in the welfare of the people.
According to Oborevwori, since ascending the throne, the Idjerhe monarch has demonstrated leadership defined by wisdom, humility and inclusiveness—qualities that have reinforced unity and peaceful coexistence across the kingdom.
“The reign of His Royal Majesty has been marked by calm, dialogue and mutual respect,” the governor noted. “The peace currently enjoyed in Idjerhe Kingdom is a direct reflection of his commitment to consensus-building and respect for traditional values.”
Governor Oborevwori also praised the monarch’s dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of Idjerhe Kingdom, noting that traditional institutions remain vital to social cohesion and community identity in Delta State.
He further commended Udurhie I for maintaining a strong and cooperative relationship with government at all levels, saying such collaboration has contributed significantly to grassroots development and socio-economic progress in the area.
“The support of traditional rulers is critical to effective governance,” Oborevwori said. “Udurhie I has shown remarkable understanding of this responsibility and has consistently partnered with government to advance development.”
The governor described the monarch’s five-year reign as one characterised by stability, progress and the trust of his people, adding that these qualities have earned him admiration beyond the borders of Idjerhe Kingdom.
He also acknowledged the monarch’s role as a moral authority and unifying figure, noting that his leadership has helped strengthen confidence in traditional institutions during a period of social and economic change.
Governor Oborevwori concluded by offering prayers for the monarch’s continued good health, divine wisdom and longevity, expressing optimism that Idjerhe Kingdom would enjoy many more years of peace and progress under his reign.
He wished His Royal Majesty a joyful celebration and many more years of meaningful service to his people and Delta State at large.
