Oborevwori Condoles Diri, Bayelsa Over Death Of Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing the loss as tragic and deeply painful.
In a condolence message issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended his heartfelt sympathies to Governor Douye Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family, the Government and people of Bayelsa State.
The Governor described the late Deputy Governor, fondly known as “a man of many proverbs,” as a man of uncommon wisdom, intellect and humility whose contributions to governance and public service left an enduring imprint on Bayelsa State, the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
“I join Governor Douye Diri, his family, the Government and people of Bayelsa State, friends and associates in mourning Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo,” Oborevwori said.
“He was a dependable partner in leadership, a team player and a fountain of wisdom. His passing is a painful reminder of the fragility of life.”
Governor Oborevwori noted that Senator Ewhrudjakpo’s calm disposition, eloquence and deep understanding of governance earned him respect beyond Bayelsa State, making him a unifying figure across the Niger Delta.
The Delta Governor prayed for God’s comfort and strength for Governor Diri, the bereaved family and the people of Bayelsa State, urging them to take solace in the worthy legacies of service and dedication left behind by the late Deputy Governor.
“On behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta State, I pray that the Almighty God grants Governor Douye Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family and all who mourn him the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who served as Deputy Governor under Governor Douye Diri, was widely admired for his intellectual depth, measured counsel and distinctive use of proverbs in public communication.
