DELTA State has achieved a major infrastructure milestone following the announcement by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori that the 20.95km Trans-Warri Ode-Itsekiri Road—featuring 15 bridges—has been fully completed.
The project, which began 19 years ago, now links several riverine Itsekiri communities that were previously difficult to access, significantly improving mobility and economic prospects in the region.
Governor Oborevwori described the completion as “a promise made, and a promise kept,” noting that it represents a major victory for the Itsekiri nation and a defining achievement under his administration’s MORE Agenda.
The road is expected to be officially commissioned in the first quarter of next year. With its completion, Delta State positions itself for enhanced trade, easier transportation, and broader development across coastal communities.
