Oborevwori Clinches Double ‘Governor Of The Year’ Honours From Leadership, New Telegraph
Double Recognition for Delta Governor
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has secured double honours as Governor of the Year 2025, following separate recognitions by Leadership Newspapers and New Telegraph Newspapers for what the media organisations described as impactful governance and people-centred policies in the state.
The awards, announced independently by the two national dailies, cite the governor’s implementation of development programmes and strategic policies that have reportedly accelerated infrastructure growth and improved socio-economic conditions across Delta State.
Leadership Newspapers will confer its award on Governor Oborevwori at the 18th Leadership Conference and Awards scheduled for February 12, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. The annual event draws leading political figures, policymakers, captains of industry, and development stakeholders to discuss key national and continental issues, while honouring individuals and institutions considered to have made significant contributions to national development.
This year’s conference is themed: “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria.” The organisers noted that Oborevwori’s administration exemplifies leadership that aligns governance with development goals amid evolving economic and political challenges.
New Telegraph Recognition
In a related development, New Telegraph Newspapers will also present its Governor of the Year 2025 Award to Oborevwori as the overall Governor of the Year at a ceremony scheduled for 13 February 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to the publication, the award recognises the governor’s inclusive governance style, infrastructure renewal projects, and policies aimed at enhancing economic growth and social welfare in Delta State.
Both recognitions highlight what the awarding bodies describe as the administration’s deliberate focus on road construction, urban renewal, job creation initiatives, and support for small and medium-scale enterprises.
The double honours further elevate Governor Oborevwori’s national profile and reflect what observers say is growing acknowledgment of his administration’s developmental agenda within the broader Nigerian political landscape.
