By ESTHER McWILLIS-IKHIDE
FORMER Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on the Federal Government to urgently resolve the ongoing strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), warning it is already hurting Nigerians and the economy.
In a statement on Monday, Obi criticized the government’s silence, stressing that protecting citizens, workers, and investors is a core responsibility of leadership.
“The strike is already having a very adverse impact on Nigerian citizens and the economy,” he said, urging proactive measures to prevent further crises.
PENGASSAN began its nationwide strike Monday over the alleged dismissal of more than 800 members by Dangote Refinery.
