Obi-Datti Rally Changes Political Equation In Delta State
THE political atmosphere in Delta State yesterday turned into a subtle lyric when the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi stormed the state.
This may not be unconnected with the initial imbroglio sunrounding the under estimated crowd of the Obi/Datti rally in the state
The Obi/Datti movement redefined the earlier presumption that Delta was exclusively a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) state.
The Commissioner for Information and PDP Presidential Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Charles Aniagwu gasped for breath while trying to defend the alleged refusal of approval for the LP Rally Venue.
It was reliably gathered that the earlier plan was to deny the LP of a sizeable venue for the rally but for the media reaction of Prof. Pat Utomi on the alleged refusal of the Government to give approval to Obi/Datti movement in Delta State.
Several attempts made to speak to the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu were rebuffed.
Despite these hiccups , the, Obi/Datti visit changed the political equation in Delta State, considering the tumultuous crowd, especially as the era of basking
on the euphoria of incident form is gone.
Deltans who have been clamouring for a change in the state, trooped out enmasse to give the Obi/Dati movement a stamp-seal.
However, the cross section of Deltans spoken to after the rally said that the hope of free, fair and credible election lies with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), even as its Chairman, Prof. Yakubu, has for the umpteemth time reiterated his stands on BIVAS and IREV.
