NTPIC Engages Professionals To Ensure Smooth Rollout Of Tax Reforms

NTPIC Strengthens Tax Reform Rollout With Expert Consultation
THE National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC) has continued its structured stakeholder engagement program, meeting with top tax advisory firms, professional bodies, and institutional representatives to support Nigeria’s recently enacted tax laws.
The session featured national presidents of professional bodies and senior partners from tax advisory firms, reflecting NTPIC’s commitment to inclusive consultation in rolling out the reforms.
Focus on Change Management and Harmonization
NTPIC Chairman Joseph Tegbe said the effective implementation of tax reforms requires more than legislative design, stressing that managing change, fostering public trust, and ensuring clear communication are central to success. He noted that NTPIC would continue to engage sub-national governments through the Joint Revenue Board to harmonize interpretations and build institutional capacity.
“The reforms are structural, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s fiscal framework. Effective change management and stakeholder buy-in are essential for compliance and long-term success,” Tegbe said.
Stakeholders Call for Consistent Enforcement
While participants applauded the reforms as timely and aligned with the Federal Government’s broader fiscal sustainability goals, they stressed the need for operational clarity to avoid fragmented enforcement. Advisory firms recommended deliberate and coordinated public education strategies to explain the reforms’ implications for individuals, small businesses, and corporates, while reinforcing principles of fairness and proportionality.
Commitment to Ongoing Dialogue
In closing, Tegbe expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their input and reaffirmed the Committee’s pledge to continue structured consultations. The Chairman was joined by Barrister Ismael Ahmed, Chairman of the Stakeholder Engagement Subcommittee; Mr. Ajibola Olomola, Chairman of the Technical Subcommittee; and members of the NTPIC Secretariat, all committed to ensuring the reforms are effectively implemented nationwide.
