NSC Swears In 28 Sports Federation Boards, Begins New 4-Year Cycle

THE National Sports Commission (NSC) has inaugurated the newly elected boards of 28 national sports federations, marking the start of a new four-year administrative term for Nigerian sports.
The ceremony, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, concluded the recent nationwide federation elections. Inaugurated federations include wrestling, boxing, tennis, handball, cricket, hockey, golf, and judo.
Speaking on behalf of the presidents, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi of the Boxing Federation pledged unity and transparency, promising stronger international representation for Nigerian athletes.
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko praised the quality of the new leadership, expressing confidence in their ability to reposition Nigerian sports. Director-General Bukola Olopade described the inauguration as “the beginning of a new journey” for national sports development.
Nigeria Olympic Committee President Habu Gumel and other top officials attended the event, reaffirming their support for collaboration toward future global competitions.
