NiMet Forecasts Three Days Of Sunshine, Haze & Sporadic Thunderstorms

THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a three-day weather forecast indicating a mix of sunshine, haziness and isolated thunderstorms across different parts of the country from Monday to Wednesday.
According to the agency’s outlook released in Abuja, the northern region will experience predominantly sunny conditions on Monday, while the central region is expected to see sunshine with patches of clouds. The southern region will be mostly cloudy with intervals of sunshine, and isolated thunderstorms may occur in parts of Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa and Cross River later in the day.
On Tuesday, dust haze is expected over Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Borno and Yobe. The central region will remain sunny with cloud patches, while the south will stay cloudy with a slight chance of morning thunderstorms in Cross River. By afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms may develop across Delta, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Cross River.
For Wednesday, NiMet forecasts widespread dust haze in the north, with sunny and hazy conditions across the central region. The southern region will begin the day cloudy, before giving way to isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall over parts of Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and other coastal states.
NiMet advised the public to exercise caution, particularly drivers during rainfall and residents in the north where dust particles will be suspended in the air. Individuals with asthma or respiratory conditions were urged to take protective measures. Airline operators were also encouraged to obtain updated, airport-specific weather reports for safe flight planning.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated through NiMet advisories and its official website (www.nimet.gov.ng).
