NiMet Forecasts Bright Skies, Pockets Of Rain Across Nigeria

Mostly Sunny Outlook Nationwide
THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast predominantly sunny and cloudy weather conditions across the country from Monday to Wednesday. The three-day outlook, released on Sunday in Abuja, indicates stable atmospheric conditions in most regions, with isolated thunderstorms expected in parts of the South.
According to the agency, the northern region will experience sunny skies throughout the forecast period, with no significant rainfall expected. The central region is also expected to enjoy sunny conditions accompanied by a few patches of clouds during the three days.
Southern States to See Isolated Thunderstorms
In the southern region, NiMet predicted generally sunny skies with cloud patches, alongside the possibility of isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall, particularly in the afternoons and evenings. States likely to experience rainfall include Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Ondo, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Abia and Osun.
On Tuesday, similar conditions are expected nationwide, with light rains forecast over parts of Abia, Edo, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa later in the day.
Wednesday Forecast and Safety Advisory
By Wednesday, NiMet envisages sunny and hazy conditions over parts of Jigawa, Yobe and Borno states, while the rest of the northern region remains sunny. Light rains are expected later in the day across several southern and south-western states.
The agency advised motorists to drive cautiously during rainfall and urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning. Residents were also encouraged to stay updated via NiMet’s official platforms.
