NIGERIA’S First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has projected a dramatic economic turnaround for the country, asserting that by 2026, foreign nations will seek loans from Nigeria. She made the declaration in Ile-Ife, Osun State, after being installed as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodu’a during the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Addressing the gathering at the Palace Square, the First Lady said ongoing national reforms would reposition Nigeria as a prosperous economic force. She insisted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would “show the world how governance should be done,” adding that the country’s “joy has come.”
She thanked the Ooni for the honour and prayed for a peaceful and progressive reign for the monarch.
Earlier, Oba Ogunwusi praised Mrs. Tinubu as a champion of women and the girl-child, describing her installation as well deserved. He reaffirmed his commitment to youth development and national cohesion.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who attended the event, commended the Ooni for elevating Yoruba culture and modernizing the institution. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke lauded the First Lady’s new title, saying she has become a partner in promoting Yoruba heritage globally.
The event drew an impressive list of dignitaries, including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, alongside prominent senators, ministers’ wives, and traditional rulers such as the Sultan of Sokoto and the Olu of Warri.
Wives of governors, service chiefs, and senior public office holders were also present, highlighting the Ooni’s far-reaching influence and the national significance of the ceremony.
