THE Federal Government has rejected claims of genocide in Nigeria, describing the country as a nation united by shared values and an “accommodative paradise” for all citizens, regardless of religion or political affiliation.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the statement during the Progressive Governors Forum’s Quarterly Strategy Meeting in Abuja, themed “FGN Synergy 2025: One Message, One Future.”
Idris rejected the genocide narrative as false and divisive, stating it aimed to sow tension and mistrust among Nigerians.
“Such misinformation only spreads hatred. Nigerians must come together to reject these divisive stories,” he said.
The minister also urged state information commissioners to intensify efforts against fake news and misinformation at both national and international levels. He emphasized that Nigeria’s unity and shared values remain its greatest strength.
