By FRED LONGJOHN OBEH
THE Nigeria Aquatics Federation has elected new board members, with Pastor Jasimiel Nseobong Samuel emerging as Technical Representative after defeating Sunday Tilije 24–18. Former Olympian Eric Williams was also elected as Athletes’ Representative, following the withdrawal of veteran swimmer Rachael Tonjor in his favour.
Jasimiel, a long-time officiating figure in aquatic sports, hailed the election as transparent and pledged to mentor young leaders to sustain the federation’s growth. He also promised to expand training for coaches and officials to build a pipeline of world-class athletes.
Williams, a two-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games medallist, vowed to ensure athletes’ interests are prioritised, adding that he will work towards boosting Nigeria’s presence at global competitions.
Both officials pledged to combine experience and innovation to strengthen aquatic sports development in Nigeria.
