THE Niger State government has approved free medical care for survivors of the Essa tanker explosion.
Governor Umaru Bago’s aide, Dr. Murtala Bagana, said about 50 victims are receiving treatment for burns and inhalation injuries at hospitals in Bida, Agaie, and Abuja. The government also supplied ₦10 million worth of drugs and cash support to affected families.
A mass burial was held for the deceased, while the state urged residents to avoid scooping fuel from fallen tankers.
Governor Bago also called on the federal government to fix the state’s dilapidated roads to prevent future accidents and reaffirmed his stance against negotiating with or paying ransom to bandits.
