NAF Supports Education in Akwa Ibom
THE Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has strengthened its commitment to community development and education by commissioning a new block of classrooms and staff offices at Edemaya Unity College in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
The facility, constructed under the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention Project, includes fully furnished classrooms and offices, aiming to enhance the learning environment and support both students and staff.

In recognition of these sustained interventions, the Edemaya community conferred the title “Ufan Edemaya”, meaning Friend of the People of Edemaya, on Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff. The accolade was presented during the commissioning ceremony, highlighting the growing partnership between the NAF and local communities.
Officials said the initiative is part of broader Civil–Military Relations (CMR) efforts, demonstrating how the NAF continues to engage with communities beyond its security mandate, fostering goodwill, and promoting education nationwide.
Residents expressed optimism that the project would improve educational outcomes and provide students with an environment conducive to learning, while strengthening the bonds between the military and civilian communities.
