Question:
Please, can you briefly tell us about yourself?
Answer:
I am Emmanuel Kayode; pen name, Jodekss Gloatkenf.
Question:
You have been an active member and State chapter (OSUN) coordinator of the Creative Writers’ Association of Nigeria (CWAN), CEO of JOGLO, publisher, editor, married man, please, can you give us brief challenges, success etc. trying to couple all these with your career, family etc.?
Answer:
I became the first Coordinator for Osun State chapter way back when, which began into 2010 or thereabouts. I was younger than I am now creatively and productively but I did the best I could online to ensure I contributed meaningfully before someone else took over the chapter. One of the greatest challenges I experienced was how to switch from writing for writing sake only to writing to make ends meet, marketing the skill(s). Meanwhile, in the art of being consistent and improving alongside God factor, things started working out. Professionally, unofficially and creatively, nothing is absolutely impossible if you know where you’re coming from, you’d know where you’re going to no matter the challenge at hand.
Question:
Can you share a brief overview of your journey as a writer, blogger, editor etc. highlighting your areas of expertise and interests?
Answer:
Everything started in 2008 out of my obsession with the work of British poet named, John Milton -On His Blindness, a powerful poem. The poem teaches (me) that “talent” I have, if I don’t use it on time, God will use others, “thousands at his bidding speed” to get things done better than I’d ever do. So, poem writing is the origin of all other creative capacities I have to my name, online and offline. I am a professional (freelance) Writer, Publisher, Researcher, Blogger, Data Analyst, Podcaster, YouTuber, AI Business Specialist.
Question:
What was a defining moment in your life that set you on your current path, and how did it shape your career and writing?
Answer:
I decided to take risks. When you know where you are coming from, definitively, deciding what must be done should not be too hard. That is what happened. The risks I took were about bidding for writing projects bigger than my experiences, I did them. They were not all perfect but I left a big room for improvements and being correctable.
Question:
How did your upbringing and background influence your values, interests, and career choices?
Answer:
I was raised in a way that I must realise if I don’t take the bull by the horn, things would go south. It has always been about, ‘if I don’t save myself, nobody is coming to save me.’ This put me on the path of trying until hardwork and God let answers show.
Question:
What was the most significant challenge you faced in your career or writing journey, and how did you overcome it?
Answer:
As said before, the most significant challenge is switching from writing for naught to for something (a monetary reward). I believed in myself and kept improving leveraging diverse sophistication to make work better or more in-depth. I told people what I can do more than what I couldn’t proficiently -leaves room for the need to learn new things always.
Question:
What achievement or milestone are you most proud of, and what did you learn from the experience?
Answer:
My greatest achievement is being able to build myself into someone some people consider as reliable even with my fallibility. They must have seen something, I suppose. If I can fake it, I don’t live it. More so, it is better to be remembered for good in life, than trying to force a show off wherever one goes.
Question:
What drives your passion for teaching and writing, and how do you see your work making a positive impact?
Answer:
God Almighty is the primary driver of everything about me. Secondary drivers are realities and personal experiences from the past, both good and the otherwise.
Question:
What core value do you hold dear, and how do you incorporate it into your work and daily life?
Answer:
To let my YES be YES and NO be NO come what may. Also, truthfulness, faithfulness and loyalty remain priceless to me concerning all things known or unknown.
Question:
What exciting projects or goals do you have upcoming, and how do you see them aligning with your passions and values?
Answer:
I published a few works under my pen name. More will come to the fore very soon, fiction and nonfiction.
Question:
What message would you like to share with our audience through this interview, and what hope or inspiration do you wish to impart?
Answer:
You cannot satisfy everyone; do your best and leave the rest (to God). No matter what you do, people will always talk. Listen to your conscience, tingling intuition, intentionally harm none and ultimately, fear God always. Without sacrifice, there can be no victory.
