LITACO Marks Seven Years of Cooperative Growth
THE Literary Authors Cooperative Multipurpose Society of Nigeria (LITACO) has marked its seventh anniversary, celebrating seven years of structured support for Nigerian writers and sustained efforts to promote a strong reading culture since its founding in 2018.
The anniversary, according to the cooperative, represents a moment of gratitude for steady growth, institutional stability and the collective commitment that has shaped LITACO into a recognised platform for author development.
Leadership Credits Members for Progress
In a message to members, LITACO President, Dr. Awele Ilusanmi, attributed the cooperative’s achievements to unity, teamwork and shared belief in its mission. She described members as the driving force behind LITACO’s transition from a vision to a functioning literary ecosystem supporting writers at different stages of their careers.
She noted that cooperative values such as collaboration and shared responsibility have enabled LITACO to deliver tangible benefits beyond individual effort.
Financial Reward for Members
As part of the anniversary celebrations, the leadership announced a special appreciation package. All members are to receive ₦7,000 credited to their accounts between now and the end of December 2025, symbolising the seven-year milestone.
The gesture, Dr. Ilusanmi said, reflects LITACO’s culture of gratitude and recognition of member contributions to the cooperative’s stability.
Literature as a Tool for Impact
Reaffirming LITACO’s core mandate, the president emphasised the role of books in education, enlightenment and social change. She urged members to remain committed to using literature as a vehicle for positive societal transformation in Nigeria and beyond.
Global Outlook for 2026
Looking ahead, Dr. Ilusanmi expressed optimism that 2026 would mark a turning point for LITACO authors, with increased international visibility, global readership and foreign-currency earnings from literary works.
She added that certificates of recognition would also be issued to members as part of efforts to formally acknowledge dedication and teamwork.
