Lawmaker Urges Rethink On Tax Reform

Rep Calls on FG and NASS to Reconsider Tax Law
BARRISTER MB Shehu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Fagge Federal Constituency, has urged the Federal Government to reconsider the recently passed tax reform law, stressing the need to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians.
Speaking on Sunday at a gathering of the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Tahir Guest Palace, Shehu called on the leadership of the National Assembly to “take the issue of the Tax Reform very seriously.”
The lawmaker, who represents the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), also advised public servants, especially journalists, to contribute positively to national unity. “Nigeria remains one indivisible country, irrespective of our political, religious, and ethnic affiliations,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of unity in diversity.
Celebrating Journalism and Service
The event also served to honour journalists and friends of the Chapel. Chairman Alhaji Murtala Adewale noted that the gathering brought together 10 former chairmen and celebrated members who have distinguished themselves professionally and personally. Several awards were presented to long-serving journalists, former leaders, and supporters of the Chapel.
