THE Lagos State Government has appointed social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, as a brand ambassador for its anti-drug campaign, Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA).
At an event in Lagos, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, conferred the ambassadorship, describing drug abuse as a “pandemic” ravaging communities. He said Mandy Kiss’s 402,000 online followers made her a valuable partner in spreading awareness.
“Everybody has a past, nobody’s perfect. We believe Mandy Kiss can help us take the anti-drug message into Lagos communities,” Ogunlende said.
The appointment has stirred debate, coming weeks after the influencer announced plans—later retracted—to stage a “sex marathon” with 100 men in Ikorodu in a bid for a Guinness World Record. GWR swiftly distanced itself, clarifying that it does not recognize sexual acts as record categories.
While critics condemned her earlier stunt and demanded sanctions, the state hopes her large audience can be redirected toward promoting public health.
LASKADA, the state’s anti-drug initiative, coordinates advocacy, education, and community engagement to curb rising drug and substance abuse in Lagos.
