THE Lagos State Government on Sunday hosted the fifth edition of its annual Food Festival, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the agricultural value chain and supporting stakeholders across the food ecosystem. The event, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, held at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, attracted food vendors, chefs, caterers and other players within the state’s agri-food sector.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the ministry for its sustained interventions in food security and agribusiness development, noting that the festival reflects a year of impactful activities across the sector. He said the state has continued to empower entrepreneurs, innovators and aggregators within the food business, creating opportunities for growth and sustainability.
According to the governor, the festival also provides a platform for families to experience Lagos’ rich culinary diversity while promoting food as a tool for storytelling, creativity and economic empowerment. He added that the initiative opens doors for young talents to showcase their skills and transform their businesses within a supportive environment.
Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms Abisola Olusanya, said the festival, themed Taste Without Borders 2025, has evolved from the Lagos Seafood Festival into a broader celebration of Lagos’ cultural identity. She described food as a unifying element that reflects the state’s multicultural heritage.
Olusanya explained that the festival is designed to celebrate and expose actors across the entire food value chain, including chefs, restaurateurs, hoteliers and caterers, while providing opportunities for networking, business expansion and long-term collaboration.
