Kogi Government Orders Social, Religious Activities To End By 4PM Amid Rising Insecurity
By HAUWA MAGANA
KOGI State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has ordered all social, religious, and community activities to conclude by 4 pm daily until further notice. The directive, issued during an emergency meeting with security agencies and traditional rulers at the Government House, Lokoja, is aimed at curbing bandit activities in the state.
Governor Ododo warned that any venue flouting the order would face demolition. He stressed that the measure is for the safety of all residents and urged vigilance. The governor also commended President Tinubu for proactive federal efforts in tackling insecurity.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ayo Edun, called for calm, attributing many panic-inducing reports to social media rumors, and encouraged verification before sharing information. Traditional rulers, led by the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRH Tijani Anaje, pledged full cooperation with authorities to maintain peace.
The directive follows recent security breaches across North Central states, including kidnappings in Kwara and Niger, highlighting the urgent need for coordinated preventive measures.
